The traditional filmmaking is using camera and editing to produce a film, mainly focus on continuity editing and different menthods in using camera. Thelma and Louis which is from traditional filmmaking, it is a narrative film that audience can easy to follow the story and the characters' features are apparent. The things that appear on the screen or in the story are real.
However, digital cinema is the combination of digital film, painting and image processing,compositing ,2D animation ,3D computer animation. This combinaion is a kind of technical thing that using computer to produce a film. Take Mission to Earth as an example,there are many graphics appear on the screen,this film was to visualize the narrative things through graphics to show the motion but not a real things.

ReplyDeleteIt is good to se that you have engaged with all of the topics covered in the course so far and presented your points of view on them. You may have a point about the Kandinsky painting but i am not convinced. Your job is to explain in detail why you think what you think --what exactly is it about this work that reminds you of Mission to Earth and what part of Mission to earth. More detail too is needed for your overall description of the film --what does it look like, what is the sound like, what is new about it, exactly? Using quotes from your reading or other sources is another good way to strengthen your points! Work on this, and you'll find yourself expressing your ideas really well!

ReplyDeleteYou have explained the relationship between the Mission to Earth and On White II. I do think that this painting is quite similar to the content of the Mission to Earth. Moreover, you have pointed out numerous ideas about the Mission to Earth. Also, you could talk about the random images which is using in the Mission to Earth, which is one of the interesting method to convey the meaning of Dada!!!
