Inter Dis-Communication Machine

What is interesting about this work?

People wear the machine that can only see what another see. The thing you touch in the front is not what you see, it is amazing. When two people wear the machine at the same time, then face to face to touch each other, what they see are themselves but cannot see others. It can help you to know what things are people seeing. However, it is easy to happen accident because you cannot see the obstacle in front of you when you are wearing the machine.

Does this work highlight any changes that are happening in today’s society?  

Yes. This work really reflects our society. It is used to let you know what others do. In this day, people are very busy and not communicate with others e.g. friends, family. There is a smartphone app called Instagram. People can use this app to follow their friends' picture such as what they eat, who they meet. We can see all the things that they shared on Instagram. To get better insight into friends, keeping follow what they experienced is the best way just like this work.

Introduction to the work

Angry Birds Cinematic Trailer

It is created by Rovio Entertainment which is Finnish computer game developer.

     The initial version of the game was released in December 2009 and released for Apple iOS.

A detailed description of the work

The concept of the initial one is about there are three green pigs stole three different birds’ egg, and then they want to revenge. Players can use the unique power of the birds to destroy the pigs’ castle.[1]

Angry Birds Seasons

It aims to celebrate different festivals e.g. Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas. The background and atmosphere of the games are depended on the festivals.

Angry Birds Rio

This is about three birds has been kidnapped to Rio suddenly. They want to escape and save their friends. This game is combined with the film which is called Rio.

Angry Birds Friends

This game changes to let players to interact others because it can be competed.

Angry Birds Space

The game is no longer limited to the ground. The players can use the birds to attack the pigs from different angles, horizontal attack or vertical attack. The situation seems as in space.

Angry Birds Star Wars

It is on the basis of Star Wars to fight Empire’s army. It is the latest version which released on Nov, 2012.

In the beginning, Angry Birds is a game for smartphone. Gradually, Rovio tended to produce for computer, NDS. No matter which sizes of the monitors, people can still enjoy the game.

It is aesthetically pleasing because it is colorful and attracts your eyes but would not disturb players to focus on destroying the structures.

There is a thought-provoking thing. Although it advocates the attitude of revenge, it still has positive meaning which is cooperation. Different birds have different strength and combine together to finish the tasks.

According to pocketgamer Jon Mundy, Angry Birds is easy to play but if you want to get three stars, you have to consider more to see which angle will be more accurate to destroy the whole building.[2] Surely, it is suitable for every age since it is user-friendly to control the birds. However, you have to find out which point is the easiest for destroying.

An evaluation of the work in terms of the issue you have chosen to focus on

     -Is it harms or benefits individuals and society at large?
        Advantages
               àindividual: when you are taking bus on the way to school, office or home etc., you can play this to kill        time and having fun. When you pass the task, you will feel happy. When you fail the task, you will get angry. Therefore, it really affects your emotion when you are playing the game.
  

               àsociety: It makes you communicate with others. It is because as a player, if you cannot pass the task, you will ask other players to teach you to pass the task. At the same time, your distances will be closer. It becomes a discussion topic for people.

             Disadvantages

   àindividual: The game is really interesting, but if you over focus on playing this game, you will get back pain and damage your eyes.

   àsociety: After this game released, the name “angry birds” in Chinese means get angry, then people always use angry bird to describe angry feeling. It is really annoying because people always say this term by using the non- normal one. 


-Is the game art according to a certain definition?

According to Adams, art should make you feel something and have to express ideas. Angry Birds is not only an interesting game, it also trains your brain to consider what is the best method to get three stars and makes you happy.
According to Mr Buffa(2011), Angry Birds Rio crossover the film Rio to maintain the features of the film, like characters and scenery. It is another way to promote a film.[3]The idea is that use Angry Birds as a promotion to let more people know the film.

What is the aesthetic things in this game? As I mentioned, those backgrounds of Angry Birds are very colorful and decorative. If you capture the screen of playing angry birds, you will discover that all things have been designed. And that is art. The sound of the game really real because when the birds crash to the structure, then there will be a sound like" bomb".

Digital Cinema

Using “Mission to Earth” as an example, note what is new or different about digital cinema compared to traditional filmmaking? Consider the story, the structure and the appearance of the film. The traditional filmmaking is using camera and editing to produce a film, mainly focus on continuity editing and different menthods in using camera. Thelma and Louis which is from traditional filmmaking, it is a narrative film that audience can easy to follow the story and the characters' features are apparent. The things that appear on the screen or in the story are real. However, digital cinema is the combination of digital film, painting and image processing,compositing ,2D animation ,3D computer animation. This combinaion is a kind of technical thing that using computer to produce a film. Take Mission to Earth as an example,there are many graphics appear on the screen,this film was to visualize the narrative things through graphics to show the motion but not a real things. What other art forms (eg early film, digital art, painting, websites etc) does this film remind you of? Explain each similarity. this painting is On White II (1923), painted by Kandinsky. There are many graphics in this painting which similar as Mission to Earth that using many graphic to convey mood or feelings.

The umbrellas are independent object when the lights do not open that is the user do not use the system. Just like when it is raining, everyone open their own umbrellas and no interaction with others. When rains drop on one umbrella and jump to another's umbrella, it means they have interaction which transfers something.

If the user uses it, it can spread out the information. Different lights colours demonstrate different status of the users, if  he/she is available, he/she will show it to you,then you can chat with them or exchange the information.

everything is random in this net work. It is unpredictable to know when is the user online.
